Re: Could the Z50 be Trojan horse for the new Z5 budget FF camera?

We've seen company upgrade camera body with improved or higher MP sensors of the same type all the time. If this does happen, I think it will be the first that a camera company swaps out a completely different type of sensor on an existing body.

By modularizing the whole system on a common platform-the Z mount, you have economy of scale in sensor and body. Let's call Z6 body (type B) and Z50 body (type C).

Put a FF sensor on body type C, and now you have entry FF camera.

Put APSC sensor on body type B, and now you have the space for heat sink, IBIS, and better CPU for pro APS-C (D500 ML equivalent).

As users, we benefit not just on cost, but familiarity with body handling. From my difficult experience using A6400, this is not to be trivialized.

Nikon may have a grand strategy. Certain better than the mixed up 3 mount problem that Canon has. But of course, Nikon has the knack of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
