a7RIV IBIS performance with unstabilized lenses

I have previously posted quantitative assessments of a7RIV IBIS performance with the Batis 135 and Batis 85. Both of those lenses are optically stabilized, which means the the IBIS in the camera provides correction for roll, x displacement, and y displacement, but sends control signals to the lens for pitch and yaw.

There was some interest in testing the camera with unstabilized lenses. I have done so, using these two lenses:

  • Leica 180 mm f/3.4 Apo-Telyt-R
  • Sony/Zeiss (Zony) 35 mm f/1.4 Distagon

I'll show you some high-level results, and provide links to more details and explanations of the test procedures.

Position: standing, leaning against railing

Position: sitting

I will be happy to answer questions.
