A new (to me) old lens: the SMC-Pentax 50mm FA f/1.7

Decades ago in the analog era, I shot with some fast 50mm lenses on my old Spotmatics and MX's, and I remember how outstanding some of them were. So I plunged in and purchased a 50mm FA - with an f/1.7 aperture - which was going out of production slightly after Pentax introduced its first DSLRs.

The results - after only a few days - make me think this lens may actually be better than my old Takumars.

I bought it from a fellow Pentaxian who lives in Moldova, and when it arrived at the Post Office, I had to try it out on my KP - this is the first shot taken with it -

just literally out of the box

Later, I had to do some shopping, and in the local pharmacy-slash-supermarket, some toys were on sale. The incongruity of dinosaurs next to princesses struck me -

The plastic-body isn't as elegant as the metal construction on my DA Ltd lenses - but the glass and rendering definitely are right up there.

I think it may be a keeper.
