I've been in charge of a small photo group for a few years. We started out on Meetup and because of cost left after 2 years. For myself, I know about and belong to Flickr and 500px, but as a group we don't belong to either since it's a bit confusing as to who owns the rights to any posted images. We do belong to FB, but just joined as a group and we only use it for announcements, no images are posted there.

Is there a hosting service that we can trust and we still retain the rights to our images?

Or would the only concrete way of securing our imagery be creating our own website? The downside again would be cost for that host if we wanted to avoid ads.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

A good website hosting service is about $5/mo.  That gives you total control over the content, layout, organization, and which website features you wish to include.

For me that's a no-brainer.

I'm at Scala Hosting and for $5/mo you can have an unlimited number of sites on the same account.  Perhaps some of the club members would be willing to pay a couple bucks a month to have their own websites, covering the cost of the club account?

Hosting these websites cost me $5/mo total:
