I got a Viltrox speedbooster, and the edge of the frame is a disaster on both my M50 and M3. Anything not in the center square of a 3x3 box is a blurry mess. Trying to AF outside of that center box results in AF misses. I bought a new 85mm 1.4 to use with it and almost sent the lens back until I tried the lens without the booster on a 5D and it was so sharp. When people said that you'd experience some softness with the speedbooster, I think they undersold how detrimental the image quality hit is.

It maybe ok for 1080p video, but I can't imagine that anyone could use this for anything except dead center compositions.

The one i tested worked very well with the 100mm macro IS. It is good at f/2.0 and very good at f/2.8. I can use it perfectly for rule of thirds compositions.

AF is slightly off sometimes, reason for me to return it. I re-ordered it a view days ago, since the price dropped, and my needs changed (want to do video with the 24mm f/2.8 IS USM).

I am surprised to hear it works so bad with the EF 85mm f/1.4 IS USM. If you have invested in this lens, it might be a good idea to get the RP for it.

Video with the 24mm 2.8?

The sigma 16mm 1.4 is a better buy, probably sharper and faster native AF.

A sigma lens has native AF, while a Canon lens has not?  Granted, the AF of the Canon lens is influenced by the speedbooster, but that doesn't make a third party lens have native AF.

No need for clunky adapter.

The overall "clunkyness" won't be much worse.

This lens is very popular among youtubers

No IS though

Exactly. And in my case i already own the 24mm IS, while the adapter is only 125 euro. I plan only doing 1080p, which is only 4Mp,  so IQ is the least of my worries. Gathering more light isn't that important, i only want a wider focal length with IS, and - in my case - 125 euro is hard to beat.

If your facts are different we could save the peace just by calling it copy to copy variation.
