As you can see, I'm now moderating this forum, that has been unattended for way too long. It'll take a while to clean all the complaints that I can see here. Over 5 pages of threads with complaints. That's pretty bad.

I hope that I can make this a better place from now on, and stop people from running away from an unfriendly environment.

Lets set some ground rules:

2. Adhere to the forum rules

Welcome Martin. Recently I think there has been some better interaction between members of the forum, so some of the things you mentioned may be are out of date now (hopefully). Important thing is to have a good place where we can share our images and learn from each other.

Bad, no not really, considering there has been no moderation, lol surprised its not a lot more than five pages :)

Guess this makes me a marked man now :) :)

Just hope your not going to kill the remaining life in this forum, there`s not a lot of it left.

I'm not sure how moderating a forum like this will make it more pleasant... more 'suburban' maybe with people giving a 'hey neighbor' to each other now and then and posting sanitized images. This genre is all about ego, bashing, chips on shoulders, inferiority/superiority complexes, criticizing, one-upmanship, tantrums, snobbery, narcissism, grandstanding, backhanded compliments, personality disorders, rage, outrage, enraging, and gawd knows what else. Do you really want to end up moderating a group of people ultimately showing famaily vacation and gatherings photos? :D

Just when I'd started to believe the "complaint" button was nothing more than a placebo. ;)

Long overdue. I may be in the minority, but this is a breath of fresh air.

Very easy. Enforcing the rules will immediately make it better. Or let's say, as the owners of the website intended it to be. No rules are chaos. Always.

Yes, definitively out of date. I might just delete or ignore most of the complaints without trying to understand them, or I'll be cleaning the forum all the way through Christmas.

Nice to meet you Martin. As the new sheriff in town, are you comfortable telling us a little about yourself? First, are you a street or documentary photographer? Which forums do you frequent on dpr? Do you have a website where we can see your work? Will you be mostly in the background, or posting work here? Questions, questions, questions...Welcome,welcome,welcome.:)

Do you think that, hence the DPR server is on the US of A territory that any restriction of the freedom of speech that contravenes the first amendment of the US constitution would be illegal?

I am just curious and bewildered why msch bits the dust.

I am curious as well, but it seems that questioning the mod’s reasoning or intentions could result in being banned as well, whether illegal or not.
