18 f/2 vs 27 f/2.8

I’m considering something pancake/pancake-like on my X-T2 to add to my current 16-80 and 23 f/1.4. This is for two primary purposes:

(1) small, light and unthreatening to subjects on the street and

(2) small, light, wide and bright for indoors/low light

As such, I’m torn between the 18mm f/2 or the 27mm f/2.8. Each have their pros and cons in relation to my two intended purposes but it appears that the 27mm is the more popular choice, although it could just be my perception.

Would love to hear your thoughts on these two lenses, which you prefer and why. Interested in all perspectives including ergos, usefulness, IQ, value, build quality etc.
