As usual, threads can easily veer off course and become inflammatory - I guess it's the nature of the game.
I've known Riccardo (Raist3d) now for close to 2 decades (he being on these forums since 2001 and my being here since 2002). And if there is one thing that Riccardo does not participate in, it's pontificating or speculating about gear (or photography in general) that he's never used or experienced.
He does actually. In another thread recently he was making false statements about HHHR on an EM1X that he claimed to have used...only later to admit he played with autofocus at a test and try event. No actual experience.
Like me, he's owned and used a wealth of cameras since that long time-frame and his input to various forums about questions about photography and/or gear have been nothing but exemplary and informative. Often-times Riccardo would interject ideas into conversations that were highly informative and he's accomplished quite a bit of street photography over the decades.
I'm glad you think so. When I point out a different perspective he retorts to playing down my experience as he's tried to do here merely because it differs from his opinion.
Riccardo owns (owned?) the Pen F and has written about it often. Like others, I measured the issues that were talked about with this camera model. But I rarely ever use continuous auto-focus mode, being instead a general stills photographer (architectural, landscape, scenics, family, etc). So the issues discussed in other threads or in some of the replies to this thread won't affect me because that's not the way I shoot. If I want speed, I'll use my Fuji X-H1.
Sure, which is why I'm suprised I can rip off a 30-shot sequence with ease while he states: "Just like James said, do not bother with continuous AF. Pretend it's not there." which I find misleading.
But when Riccardo advances reservations about issues with a given camera, he's not advancing silly ideas, but rather, these are issues he's experienced and he has a right to expound upon them.
Just like he has "experience" with the EM1X right? Yet pretends to understand how motion artifacts occur in HHHR when using a camera he's only held one time.
After all, we're exchanging ideas and opinions on these forums. If you some one doesn't like an opinion - well, then fine - but then asking somebody to "prove it," well...as they say back on the block, "Ah got's yer proof right here buddy," as I point to an area of my anatomy.
I agree 100%. So why would he try and downplay the video I posted with a 30-shot sequence I posted of working CAF on the PEN-F. Would seem germane to the conversation no?
