I am a newbie to this forum and also do not know much about DSLR.
I am an Amateur mobile photographer, trying to get a DSLR. I live in india, I capture both video and photos. I have finalised two cameras within my budget (Rs.50000) SL2 (200d) and T7i (800d).
Get the 200D II, the only benefit of 800D is the buffer for 25 raws and a faster fps burst. The 45-pt AF is useless without a joystick in real life.
Some Pros of 200D II over 200D:
1. Better LV AF (with spot AF point, continuous Eye AF in still & video, can focus at really really dark).
2. Clean HDMI out for both FHD & 4K (you can use external recorder to get 10-bit 4:2:2 or live stream)
3. 10 RAW+ Jpeg buffer vs 5 in 200D. With CRAW (avg. file size 10MB), with Sandisk Extreme Pro 170/90MBps card, buffer increase to about 20+ CRAW+L JPEG.
Cons of 200DII over 200D:
1. No 24fps in video - Doesn't matter sh!t ! 25/30fps works great.
2. No central hotshoe pin, only little cheap flashes will not work. Those 3rd party flashes/radio triggers with 2.5mm jack works perfectly fine.
I have done lot of research and found out 800d is better with more focus points and burst buffer rate, light metering etc.,
See above, for 800D. I had it, sold and got the 200D and then when 200D II came out, I sold the 200D and got the 200D II. Once you have gained experience, light metering doesn't matter a bit, you'll know what you do!
But what I am confused about is, a well reputed camera store nearby sells 800d (Rs.45000) less than 200d (Rs.49,800) difference is about Rs.4000 (about 55usd).
So I can get 800d right, but I cannot decide.
200D in my opinion has better value than the 800D. Even if 800D have 45-pt AF, it doesn't have AFMA like the xxD has. So, when shooting f2.8 or brighter lenses, some lenses are not accurate, because of which I use LV. I do not regret a tiny bit when I trade the 800D for 200D.
200d comes with two kit lenses with 18-55mm STM and 55-200 STM 800d comes with just one that is 18-55 STM.
55-200 STM is fun to use, but nothing good in serious thing, but very good for walk around and casual use.
Should I go for 200d get both kit lenses not worry about a new lens for about a year or more.
Or
200D II - my personal recommendation.
Should I go for 800d and stuck with 18-55 lens till I save up for my next lens for a long time.
Can someone help me out.
Also, the RAW of 800D in lightroom is very dull and washout with harsh orange-red and green colors. It's similar to 6D II. 200D & 200D II have more pleasant raw to work with like the older 80D/70D.
I don't use Lightroom to edit images that I capture in mobile. Either I use Snapseed on the go. Photoshop which I am comfortable with.
