Daytona GT

Built by a father and son team from the Hamilton area and displayed at the Canadian Warplane Museum Planes and Classic Cars event that was on today and tomorrow. A lovely looking car kit based on a Carroll Shelby race car from the early 60s. I talked at length with the builder. An interesting story and build, much of it hand built and custom, not just a kit assemble. Based on a car I fell in love with the first time I saw it in the 60s. I hand built a 1/32nd scale model out of balsa wood to be a body on a slot race car I also built from scratch with tubular brass. I built the body from images in a car magazine, likely Road and Track but I can not say with certainty.  That was a long time ago!

Did I say I loved this car!
