Experience has taught me that although a lot of the equations look like they should make a difference they really don't...

There is no debate, these facts are directly from optical physics. The only confusion you have for debate is the CoC, which is up to interpretation. Pixel size does make a difference, and even more so with the new Cell Phone cameras, where pixel size is ~1um.

Pixel size makes a difference where diffraction is concerned, but I fail to see how it can make any difference in perceived depth of field.

You can continue to bury your head in the sand and ignore the real world with your "hand held, single image, no crop, F66 diffraction doesn't matter because I say so BS", meanwhile the rest of us will move forward.

...and this is where it looks like you're losing the argument so you start with personal attacks.

And you are the one claiming personal attacks, now that is a real joke!!

P.S. Yup, you're right. My severely diffraction limited images are terrible...

I've never said your images are terrible, even complemented you a few times, and will still do so....I'm not that shallow!!

However, your distain for focus stacking and with others that don't agree with your methods and views (often incorrect) is obvious to anyone that follows these threads.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/30, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (3x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT (E-TTL metering, -2/3 FEC). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. Ignore the shutter speed; there's no natural light on the subject and I dragged the shutter to expose the background, but murky pond water isn't very reflective.

Anyway, this is another thread that deviated from the OP intent, To stack or Not to stack is the original question I believe.

Best,

...and yet here you are...

Think this whole deviation started under your guidance just like it did in the previous thread on Alternate Stacking Concepts. You have a great skill in turning a useful productive thread into unproductive ramblings, and more like "look at my wonderful bee's images".
