Uh oh....Camera v Smartphone Statistics
1

This has been a topic of discussion for a while, but read a recently posted blog post on Photography Life (one of the better blogs/sites as they post original content and aren’t really an aggregator-yuck) on Cameras v. Smartphones. The most interesting thing written, that is supported by the chart below-hopefully the stats are factual, was the allocation of R&D investment....obviously into the smartphone arena due to its humongous size. But, the cliff that camera sales have fallen off of over the past few years is staggering-again, if the stats are true.

I really liked one of the forum member ideas in a recent post where the camera is going to be the image capture tool that will then use a smartphone to process/manipulate the image. FWIW, I still can’t accept the horrible quality of the smartphone imagery over my mirrorless camera and lens and its stunning optics.
