Hello all,

I am currently looking for a 70-200 lens for sports photography on my A7iii and I don't know which to choose between. I'm looking at the 70-200 f4 or the SAL 70-200 f2.8G with the la-el4 adapter. Not sure how the adapted lens will perform, but these two are come out to about the same price. If there are any other FE telephotos lenses under 1k US, please let me know. Any advice to help me choose will be greatly appreciated!

I bought a Sigma APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM and Sony LA-EA4 for about $500 shipped. The LA-EA4 is much better at tracking sports than the LA-EA3 on my A7II.

I also have had many copies of the Minolta 70-210mm F4 "Beercan", which is a very nice, very inexpensive zoom.

AF-C with adapted lenses is limited to the "Lo" frame rate even the latest SSM II lenses or Canon lenses on the Sigma MC-11. I don't find a performance difference between the MC-11 and the LA-EA3 with identical lenses.

The new Sigma 70-200 F2.8 Sport should act like a native lens on the MC-11.The FE 70-200 F4 G OSS is dated, but probably would perform better as far as AF.
