The ‘3D tracking’ thing.....

Several months into my Z6 and I love it - apart from the ‘3D tracking’ (sort of) implementation which has been commented upon by many as cumbersome & generally rubbish etc.

It’s only from an interest point of view as I’m no engineer but is there any technical reason (processing power??) why Nikon did it (or had to do it?) this way in an MILC, c.f their DSLRs? Just seems very odd, even though this is Nikon we’re talking about.

I’ve never heard of their ambassadors saying they need to sort it - unless they’re happy and/or it can’t be changed for some reason. Or maybe we never hear of their comments - I know Thom Hogan bangs on about it but he’s not classed as an ambassador?

I’ve never seen any rumour that this will change either on the current Zeds or future models?

Not a rant, I knew before I bought but I’ve always been curious as to why this way - technical reason or just a weird design mistake (IMO).

You may think that - I couldn't possibly comment.
