My Kenko 1.4x DGX works with just about all of my lenses on my 700D. The Canon 1.4x did not and neither would it play well with the 100-400 because of the camera.
Personally I wouldn't go 2x, just too much loss in aperture and auto-focus capability but I guess it depends on how you intend to use it. As a footnote I don't find myself using it much as I seem to lose as much quality as I gain in reach unless the light is really good but then I want(ed) it for birding/wildlife.
The Canon shop refunded the Canon extender.
