We've been digging around under the hood of the Nikon Z50. We look at what Nikon's first APS-C mirrorless camera does and doesn't offer.
I was updating the firmware on my camera the other day and I tried testing it after it was complete. The camera had the nifty fifty attached to it during the process. When I tried to focus, the lens whirred and couldn't focus. I looked at it, tried moving the af switch on and off and then the front of the lens just came off. I have idea how that happened. I looked inside, I saw how the front section fits, I put it back and it snapped in place under very light pressure. The lens can now focus and seems to work fine.
On one hand, I was a bit miffed that the lens can come apart like that, on the other hand, it makes it easy to clean it in case of fungus or whatever. So, I was wondering if anyone can suggest how to take it apart. I'm reluctant to try to do it myself without guidance because I don't want to break the plastic that holds the front section in place.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
