active D lighting

Although I've used Nikon 1 cameras for about 3 years now, I have never bothered to read the reference manuals.

Sitting in our motorhome/RV, free from the usual domestic 'ought tos', just for fun I had a look at the V2 manual and came across  'active D lighting' which I knew existed but hadn't bothered with before.

I know that it only effects RAW by shifting the exposure and I normally just use exp comp to deal with overblown highlights eg the sky but usually get it wrong.

I wondered if members actually used this feature?

Although I use RAW+jpeg, being lazy, I rarely tweak the RAW so most of what I take ends up SOOC in jpeg.

Probably a silly question - when daylight returns I will have a play around myself.

Richard

PS obviously this is not Nikon 1 specific
