I watch an Fstopper sponsored video where they explain how to use ACDsee's video editor. I was amazed at how similar to working with audio it seems; I did some music recording years ago. It seems to have all the elements needed to make a good video.

I'd like to give it a try, before investing any money, as I've never worked with video and it might turn out to not be as easy or similar to what I'm familiar with...

Are there any free software with a similar interface to ACDsee out there?

Blender is well known as the tool for 3D modeling and animation, but few know that its Video Sequence Editor is also very powerful.

I've used OpenShot for a while, but since it's written in Python, it quickly ran into performance issue when adding a long clip, or multiple clips.

Blender's VSE is smooth through out. I've processed a few piano recitals, with videos from two cameras and a phone and audio from two recorders (total of 8 tracks) easily.
