Taking 90D for a spin - Macro fun
10

I got my 90D last Friday and took it out a bit this weekend, but the weather wasn't great. Tonight I thought I'd so something very uncharacteristic for me...take off my long lens and put on the macro.  Here are some photos from the 90D, with the 100mm EF 2.8L IS macro lens.

Not going to be some authoritative source on image quality or anything for the 90D, but my impressions so far:

- AF much better than my 70D. Not from the macro shots tonight, but from being out this weekend, including tracking gulls in flight.

- Noise is...great.  Note the photos below are all resampled to 1000px max direction, so they're not full res.  Also note that my processing flow is (hopefully temporarily) changed in that I'm not getting Camera Raw to work in photoshop, so I'm processing from RAW in the Canon Digital Photo Professional software. Again not a rigorous assessment, but the noise looks awfully damned good to me. These below are all ISO 800, but shot some 8000 ISO this weekend that looked pretty damned good.

- Construction is a little weird. Doesn't seem as "metallic" as my 70D? With a material surface that feels like powder coated metal a bit, but very light? Not a concern for me, but it is...different.

- Pixels, pixels, pixels. Going from 20 to 32.5 MP (70D to 90D) is...awesome. Had some nice detail in very heavy crops

- Much quieter shutter...definitely different than the 70D.
