Exposure

I am not a beginner but with digital photography, I began again. So, this is the forum I chose to post this question about exposure. When I shot with film, if I underexposed the shot, the negative was washed out. If I overexposed the shot, the negative was dark. If i print these negatives using the same exposure and development time, the print of the underexposed shot will be dark and the print with the overexposed shot will be light.

So, if I underexpose a shot with my digital camera, the image will be  darker or lighter than an overexposed shot?
