I've recently gotten into photography and am looking to buy a telephoto lens. Now, I am in a dilemma between the Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 VC USD and the Nikkor 70-300 f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF VR they are both around the same price but for my liking the one nikon one has a very loose focusing ring, I should probably get my hands on a new one to see if its the way it should be.

The only problem on the nikon is the focusing ring, if anything breaks I am kinda worried how much would it cost to repair.

So, I've heard that nikon has better contrast, but the tamron has better VR. Now i don't know which one to pick especially about the nikon with its flaws.

Thanks for all the info in advance.

For well over 12 yrs now I've been using a 70-300 VR Nikkor

in a nasty unforgiving jungle environment. Everything is

very snug and never have had any problems. Might

mention this lens is mounted on a Nikon D300.

There's an album in my flickr site setup

just for this lens. Enjoy the photos.
