Increase in mp and Zooming

My understanding is, in order to figure out how much more I can zoom in to an image on my computer while retaining the same level of detail when going from 20 to 60MP, I take Square Root of (60/20), getting me 1.73. This means I can zoom in 73% and have the same level of detail. (Assuming the camera is perfect and everything is ideal.) Correct?

(Square root of 4 is 2, and that's how we get the idea that to be able to zoom in twice as much at same level of quality we must quadruple MP?)

It's just photography. Let's not take ourselves too seriously.
