Using the HDMI for live monitor output when shooting with the RX100 vi?

Can anyone confirm whether it is possible to use the HDMI to monitor output as a live viewing source during shooting please

I have a specific as well a generic use for this as I have been asked to provide a short workshop on soap bubble photography for my club and it would be great to take the signal from the camera to a monitor so that the members can watch the process in real time (I will be using an external power source for the camera) and can either use the monitor on my lap top or better yet the 20+ inch monitor I use for my AV shows and the like during public dispays

Any help from someone who has shot in this way would be most appreciated

(I have RTFM by the way and its a bit opaque on the subject )
