K-1 macro in live view with a flash

I was wondering if any pentaxians have a solution for an issue I am facing. I own the K-1 with the 100mm macro. I like to shoot at small apertures (i.e. f22+) so I get a lot of DOF for smaller insects. So I might do something like f22, ISO 400, 1/60 with the flash set at 1:1. This works fine using the OVF. However, I really like using live view for a few reasons:

1. I can zoom in on the eye of the subject for critical focus

2. In live view you can enable focus peaking

3. I can shoot from angles that are impossible with the OVF

The problem is the image in live view is either very dark or black. Is there a setting to get around this issue?
