Re: X-E3 vs XT-30 Autofocus

I've owned both and for AF-S in good light, no difference in practice. However, the XE3 sucks in low light while XT30 reduces the gap with Panasonic, typically, and surpasses Olympus (my feeling).

For AF-C, XT30 is better : faster, more reliable for tracking, customisable and providing face detect with the ability to choose the face (in case of several in the frame).

For kids, prefer XT30, hands down.

About size, don't overlook camerasize.com : when you'll agree carrying a XE3, you'll likely be fine with a XT30 as well. However, central viewfinder is significantly different from corner viewfinder. And the drive wheel is actually much more convenient wrt the drive button of the XE3, in case you want to quickly snap a video. I used to underestimate this point when choosing between XE3 and XT20, and it has been one of my motivations to upgrade to XT30.
