Namibia Desert + Aerials

Gave my RX 10 IV a workout in Namibia recently.  Took this series of images in the Namib Desert at Sossusvlei. I took the aerials  from a helicopter with the doors removed.

For the dune walk, our guide got us to the location very early to catch the sunrise and beat the crowds.

The helicopter took  off at sunrise the following day.

Our guide leads us for the first  steps of the day on Big Daddy Dune

Deadvlei in shadow

People on top of Big Daddy Dune. Some also descending down the face.

Shadow retreats off Deadvlei  as the sun rises

View across to Big Momma Dune  on the return walk. Note the change in colour by mid- morning. Also congregation of tourist vehicles. It pays to get there early.

View south from helicopter. It was very blowy with the doors removed so a very fast shutter speed is a must.

Front view of Dune 45. ( located 45 kilometres from NP entry gate).

View north across Namib Desert

Oryx on the run. BIF mode worked well for this shot out of the helicopter

In some areas such as this,  mysterious  fairy rings dot the landscape between the dunes.
