The f-stop is a ratio. A ratio is dimensionless. The f-stop is universal. The f-stop does not change format to format.

The reason for the f-stop system, it allows us to pass exposure information between photographers and this data will be valid regardless of size of lens. In other words, f/2 is the same on an 8x10 sheet film camera as it is on a sub-miniature spy camera. Both cameras pass the same intensity image on to film or sensor.

The movie industry uses a "T" stop. this is an f-stop that is calculated by a light meter. This gives an extra level of accuracy. If fine tunes the aperture diameter thus is grants extra uniformity camera to camera.
