Why the G lens hunting?
1

Anyone know why the z bodies tend to make G lenses hunt around more than the dslrs? This in AF-C of course. The AF works good but the lenses always hunt. No significant impact on the actual shot on something like my 58, but with the thin DoF on the 105 macro I can actually see the DoF moving ever so slightly when using AF-C dynamic when the subject only fills the main focus box and not the points around it, and some shots have come out OOF because of this hunting. Using single point it doesn't hunt as much, almost gone entirely.

In general, I've seen people report hunting on a G lens with a z. It's almost as if the AF is never happy with a G and is always trying to get sharper focus, or maybe it just keeps jumping between foreground/background in certain focus modes.

Assuming it doesn't behave this way on native lenses?

Any insight?
