Rule of thumb

Hi

I guess that in photography there are "rules of thumb"... Maybe some that people get to know when they are in photography school, or maybe people have their own personal rule of thumb when they find out when something works fine.

So... Plz post the rules of thumb you know about in the thread.

I'v got to know 2 rules of thumb

1.

If you are shooting zooming in at 300mm you set shutter-speed to 1/300... if you shoot at 150mm shutter-speed is 1/150 etc. etc.

2.

I don't know if this one only works with aperture at 16 in good sunlight or if it works in all situations... If ISO is 100, you set shutter-speed at 1/100. If ISO is 1600 you set shutter-speed at 1/1600 etc. etc.
