when you get down to it, the only thing that is important is the final image. Technical understanding has some definite merits, depending upon the interest of the photographer.

Ettr is a useful technique, and needs to be well described to a beginner in this area. in that particular thread I cannot say that I was impressed with some of the"expert" discussion.

it is always useful to have properly described technology and technological implications. I find it annoying when some people incorrectly or incompletely described technology and do not learn when the description is corrected by experts.
