Likewise - the only problem is that after lengthy storage without a battery inserted the D200 clock capacitor has given up. It holds the date/time just long enough for a very quick battery change - but that's it.

That's unfortunate.. So far mine will still hold the correct time for extended periods. It might drift a minute or so but that's about it. I have a number of older cameras on display in my office so two or three times a year I'll take each one out, put a battery in and exercise them along with their flashes to keep the caps formed. I don't know if it helps or not but my dad always said use 'em or lose 'em. He was referring to vehicles but I think it's sage advice for anything mechanical. Now that the D200 has pretty much been retired, perhaps to help keep the clock cap in good shape I should be leaving the battery in for a few hours rather than just a few minutes. I'll have to look into that. Thanks for bringing it up.

Well, after leaving it in for 2 weeks the clock lasted about 10 minutes. More than enough for battery change but not for recharge.................but then I was tempted by an as new boxed D300 (2000 clicks) so the 200 has gone. Sad, but there are things I want that that the 300 does better. I do have the D90 but just love the feel of the 300 and also having all the controls to hand is just so much nicer than menus and stuff
