Great optics throughout the entire zoom range. I gave it up since it is too large and heavy. I switched from Canon FF to Fuji X to reduce weight and this lens goes against that ethos.

Would be an excellent choice for those that prefer not to carry around a set of primes, but I personally am going for a more low-key look and this lens screams PHOTOG.

I read through most of this thread and balked at most of the response to the OP.

The OP was asked by DPreview to share his opinion of the product as per the instruction in the screenshot below:

It is a USER review. So why do the majority in this thread have a problem with it?

Tim C.

Do you feel that expressing disagreement over such a review is problematic or somehow not appropriate in a forum such as this? There’s certainly no issue with presenting a review... positive, negative, or neutral. However, given the fact that this is a discussion forum, is it unreasonable to expect that the review might generate some differing opinions within the thread? As long as the discourse remains civil and productive, I’m not sure what the problem is, even if people’s comments are tending towards being a bit negative.

Am I missing something here or did I perhaps misinterpret your concern?

This is arguing for the sake of arguing. You appear to dislike when your opinions are challenged, and in this case, you are demanding that another person talk exactly like you might (but don't) when presenting opinions, again, which in situ, should be understood by most people to be opinions. A review is an opinion. From the very first page, it should be obvious. We all know there is a greater demand today to force people to prelude opinion by the IMO tag, but that is unfair and ugly. It is equally ugly to criticise that demand and to in turn be called an authoritarian or to be skewered as someone that can't take 'differing opinions' within the thread.

I don't think anyone has a problem with differing opinions about the review. What they have problems with is the demand to use IMO when it is completely OBVIOUS that the OP's marginal review was an opinion piece.

And, the OP doesn't appear to be bothered with differing opinions either. In fact, this discussion wouldn't have happened had the argument not been about how to delineate opinion VS fact, or about the meta narrative regarding of reviewing a review.

EDIT: nice form with the IMO- IMO of course.

For starters, my question was addressed at Tim, not you. Secondly, it had nothing at all to do with arguing a point. I simply asked him whether he felt that disagreeing with a review was somehow bad form. Not sure exactly where my opinions were challenged, but that's sort of par for the course here and, as I said, as long as it's civil, I have no issues.

However, WRT your comments, I've wasted more time than I can recall arguing silly points like this with you in the past and won't make that mistake here.
