If mostly airshows, then I think the 100-400gm might be a better choice over the 200-600g, because the 100mm is useful, and the planes will eventually be much closer than birds could be (I mean, larger in the frame), simply because that's the whole purpose of the show, to see the planes, however the birds could be very far (small in the frame) because they don't really care if you see them

And of course, you get that weight saving.

If you do a lot of wildlife, then the 200-600g is absolutely a better lens and worth the extra weight and you'll know it once you see the results.

Mostly wildlife.  The airshow thing is just once a year, so I figured I'd pull out the 200-500.  I actually think I could've just used my 70-300 AF-P instead, since I was right on the flightline.
