If Canon used the improved EVF actuation of just 1 button, vs the pullout I wouldn't hesitate.
Using the 2-step electronic viewfinder is not really a problem, trust me. I personally owned the Sony RX100 IV with the same system, but also the VI with the one-step system and really, this is not the thing that should be taken into account in the purchase decision. I think we are giving too much importance to this detail on the Internet. In use, I do not see any problem.
I understand what you wrote. But I will have to wait and see perhaps. I find the smooth 1 action actuation superior, it’s much faster.
Its one less thing I’ll have to do. This is a subjective issue.
An example with something else- I come from film, Nikon bodies.
When Nikon came out with digital SLR there were 2 features I wanted: a true touch screen like on the D5500, and full frame.
Until those 2 criteria were met I wouldn’t buy a digital SLR.
When the D5500 came out I decided to buy it.
The full frame Nikons didn’t have a true touch screen that I was aware of, plus I find them too much money when I can use film—no sale there.
Ill may wait until Sony Canon or whomever makes something with my needs.
I don’t know why Canon didn’t implement this. The camera is $1,000, it should have a one step system, like Sony.
This camera is NEAR perfect for my needs. I tend to go without unless product meets all my needs; I don’t settle.
EVF aside I really, really like it! Who knows maybe I’ll cave and get it after it’s been out a while. If the EVF is well built will determine that.
The one I handled seemed little wobbly. Pulling out the EVF to the rear of the brand new camera was “harder” than the Sony- that didn’t bother me, just didn’t expect it.
I liked the diopter adjustment.
