I just looked at the owner’s manual and I don’t see it either, I guess you’re out of luck. Stick a card in and leave it in - transfer the images directly from the camera if you don’t want to make a mistake.

With the X-T1 [which does not have this option either, the newer X-E3 has it under 'button dials settings' I have made it a habit never to close the card door when there is no card inserted and putting the camera next to the card reader. Not completely fool proof, but reasonably 'me proof'.

I've been plugging my camera directly into my computer to transfer my images since 2004 and I have never had any issues whatsoever, never a card failure, never a card slot issue, nothing. I really don't know why folks hassle with a card reader instead. Maybe it's a little faster? The way I do it is plenty fast enough for me.
