NX1 4k artifacts in video
NX1 4k artifacts in video
Aug 27, 2019
I shot some photos and video with the NX1 plus 18-200mm lens yesterday and there were a couple of issues with the resulting footage.
I captured a screenshot of my son from one of the videos and noticed that there were several artifacts around his face that weren't that noticeable on the video but were unmissable on the still. I was recording at 80Mbit so I'm surprised to be honest. Could this be caused by the lens itself, or was it because there was motion in the scene and the shutter speed was relatively slow - 1/100? Would I avoid artifacts by shooting in 1080p?
Secondly, I noticed that there were some grey blobs on some of the footage. I'm pretty sure that these aren't from the sensor but I couldn't see any dust on the front or rear of the lens, although there is a small scratch on the front element. Could this cause this problem? Incidentally I was shooting at around f15 so maybe this made it more pronounced.
Overall I'm happy with the performance of the 18-200mm although it's not great for zooming whilst shooting video - it's very hard to do it smoothly, at least it is with my copy.
