Older EF L lenses on EOS R?

Thinking about taking the plunge and buying the EOS R as an upgrade to my aging 6D and skipping the (to me) still very expensive 5D Mk IV. I have a couple of older EF lenses, namely the EF L 24-70 2.8 and the EF L 70-200 2.8 (Both first gen versions) they work great on my 6D but I'm worried they may not perform so well on such a new body, especially with the adapter.

Does anyone use these lenses on the R with the supplied adapter? Any feedback would be welcome to help me make this decision. How is the focusing and overall sharpness with these older lenses. Canon says they all work, but I'm taking that with a large grain of salt.

I know I need to start upgrading my lenses, I just can't really buy them all at once and want to make sure I can still use the new body with my current setup.

Cheers,

Greg F.
