Does anyone like the 18-300 os as a walkaround?

I know, I know....I love primes too, and the few zooms I have

are quality 3x types like the Minolta 80-200 f2.8 and Sony 16-35.

Sigma USA has a nice package through the end of next month:

a refurbed SD1M, and they are throwing in the 18-300 OS.

I assumed that it was the usual bottom-of-the-barrel-full-of-compromises

shyte....but it gets very positive reviews, and the photos I've found online

seem to back it up. BUT they've mainly been on Canon and Nikon bodies.

Does anyone HERE like it on the SD1M? Some days it would be easy to

walk out the door with an all-in-one....without Great Expectations....yet

still come home at the end of the day with some good results. Note- I'm

in Italy, where the light in winter is usually decent, and the rest of the

year can be blindingly bright. I know that the 18-300 is a slow lens, but

that's FINE. Is it relatively productive otherwise?? (autofocus, rendering,

stabilisation, etc)

Thank you and good light!
