NEF File / Camera Reference

An easy minor tweak for quick image file / camera reference.

I change my NEF file naming setting from DSC to a customized version which provides quick camera recognition.

I made the following changes on my cameras:

D80: DSC becomes D80

D90: DSC becomes D90

D7000: DSC becomes D7K

D700: DSC becomes D7C

D810: DSC becomes D81

When I get a D850 it will become D85.

Now, for quick easy reference, whenever you see your image file number in a photo editor or browser or folder or wherever, you will instantly know which camera the image was shot with.

To adjust go to your camera . . .

MENU > SHOOTING MENU > File naming

. . . then adjust to suit.

Only takes a few seconds to do and I find it to be a handy little reference at times.
