DFA 150-450 with achromat close up lenses compared with 2 macro lenses
2

Dear all,

a couple of month ago I tried to make my DFA 150-450 mm lens a macro lens by means of close up lenses. But I did not use simple close up lenses but achromat lenses which offer a much better image quality.

First tests were not so promissing - but after a discussion at another thread of this forum I gave the system a try, again - and I am satisfied, now.

I did the test at real field conditions I usually shoot my photos at. I prefer shorter exposure times (1/640-1/1000 sec) as most of the times I shoot free hand living organisms (insects) that move around at at least a little windy conditions. I prefer to use my Metz AF1 64 as fill in light.

I did post-processsing with ON1 and used the same profile for all of the photos. Only minor corrections were made - no special development from the ON1 toolbox.

Below you will find in this order:

- 3 photos taken with DFA 150-450 and Canon 500 achromat (77mm) in front of it.

- 2 photos taken with Heliopan achromat 250/4

- 3 photos taken with A* 200 mm f4 Pentax macro lens

- 3 photos taken with Sigma 70 mm macro lens.
