Yes, after testing, you are correct! I'm embarrassed that after 2 years of using the A6500 I had not tested the options carefully enough.

There one step I have taken: I save the C1 also to M1 and I save C2 to M2. Then using a card reader and editor, I save M1 and M2.  Why? Once I accidentally reset the camera settings and it took me way too long to try and remember all those settings.

If that should happen again, I would make sure the card contained my saved M1 and M2 data. Then I can bring M1 into the camera and save it as C1; same for M2 and C2.
