Thanks Don. I actually take no pleasure in photographing people in distressed situations like this, but philosophically I refuse to whitewash them out of history.

And I put my money where my mouth is, I’m going back to school at age 48, for a new career in social work.

Thanks for sharing that, and i wish you the best....it will be difficult but satisfying work where you will not get wealthy.

My daughter started in social work and then switched to being a guidance counselor in pubic schools, following in my wife's footsteps. They are the students best advocates and have helped a lot of kids. They are/were excellent at their jobs and got a lot of satisfaction from their jobs......we joke that its where you learn others secrets and get paid for it.
