I have one that I bought new in 1989. Cost me a weeks wages.

I tested it yesterday against an EF 24-105mm f4.0 L II, an EF-s 55-250mm IS STM, and a 70-300mm IS USM II. It wasn't very awesome, but 30 years later it still works, and the images are usable.

To get to 300mm for twenty bucks? That is awesome.

Many years ago there was a dude on here who had nearly every EF L lens ever made and would bash everyone for any reason. Then finally he put some of his pics up. He sucked. Bigly.

Enjoy your old lens. I love mine. It means a lot to me, and I would never sell it. I know if I stick it on my camera and push the button I will get a picture that I can use. I never get missed focus. Never have.

To quote the Terminator: 'I'm old, not obsolete.'

As an aside, the two sharpest lenses I own are a second hand EF-s 24mm f2.8, and the FD 200mm f2.8 on a $30 lens adaptor.  They each cost just around a hundred dollars.

Don't let the haters get to you.
