Cant understand minimum focusing distance.

Hello.

when i shoot at 18MM and 200MM from the same distance, i can focus on the subject.
but when i get closer to the subject at 18MM and trying to focus, i cant.

and when i shoot at 200MM from the same distance, i get an much better shllow depth of field. why?
can i get shllower depth of field at 18MM like in 200MM?

( Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC )
Minimum Object Distance - 0.49 – 0.77m [18mm: 0.5m / 35mm: 0.77m / 180mm: 0.49m / 200mm: 0.5m]

can some one explein for a noob?
Thanks

Shot at 18MM, camera close to the subject

Shot at 200MM, got further with the camera

Shot at 18MM, same distance as the 200MM above.

The main quastion, why can i focus when i zoom in?.. and got more shallower depth of field..
