Auctions aren't there for "fun"

I don't find this to be the case at all. Auction listings will tend to go for 20-30% below the buy it now price. You can verify this pretty easily. Just go to whatever you want to buy and check the recently sold prices.

The point of auctions is to arrive at a good market price between buyers and sellers. Not to have fun. There's no point in complaining about auto bidders. They are just serving that purpose. The best thing to do is find the item you want and then enter in the highest price you're willing to pay. If that is the highest price anyone is willing to pay, you get the item. If it isn't, you try again. Easy as pie. Nothing to check on or monitor.
