m4/3 Theoretical maximum resolution?
2

As I've grown older, I've become more easily fatigued carrying around my camera-lens combo (Canon 5D2 + 24-105 is my go-to walkaround).

m4/3 seems like a logical choice for me. At the same time, I know that with the MP race, I can carry a smaller lens and then crop to "zoom" in. That's one reason I had my eye on the 61MP monster Sony. Rumors say Canon has an 80MP camera planned.

I'm wondering if there's any theoretical limit that would prevent m4/3 from having such massive resolutions. For e.g., the sensor size and diffraction that would make all those pixels pointless above a certain MP count.

Does anyone know what that limit would be? Guesses are welcome.

Thanks,

Canon EOS 5D Mark II
