Broken dual boot Win7 + Linux

I've posted recently that I was going to switch from the expiring Mint KDE to Kubuntu. Well it's gone wrong.

I have a few years old HP Elitebook, 64bit which was running Win7 Pro. I added Mint KDE to it (possibly starting with GParted but I can't remember. So I had:

sda1 = Windows recovery

sda2* = Windows

sda3 = Linux

sda4

sda5 linux swap

sda6 Shared NTFS partition (so data could be accessed regardless of Linux or Windows boot)

I thought I'd done the right thing and started asking questions on

https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthread.php/75791-Before-I-start-From-Mint-to-Kubuntu?p=429793&posted=1#post429793

but I must have done something wrong, or Kubuntu didn't readily understand my computer and I lost boot capability altogether.

I reinstalled KDE Mint from an old DVD and that works but I don't have the boot menu I used to get, Linux Mint, Advanced Mint, something else, Windows 7 Pro, something else.  It just goes into Linux.

When it comes to MBR, mount points, EFI (which I don't think I have but Kununtu is expecting) I am even more into foreign territory.

Thankfully my XP is working and allowing me this access.

Help please before I make things worse.
