How many Megapixels do you realistically need for your photography?

I'm thinking back, and when I had my 6 MP Pentax K100D, the only time I felt like I wanted more was when my 200mm lens didn't get me close enough and I wanted to crop into it.

I never print bigger than 8x12.

So for me, I think 10 MP is what I "need."
