Replacing the background in a still life?

I usually shoot my flower compositions against a black background. Viewed on a screen, that looks OK. But I'm thinking that, in a print, it will be too much black.

So I tried using the 'magic eraser' in PSE to drop the flowers onto a different background. There's always a black ring left around the flowers. The 'tolerance' parameter is a crude adjustment - adjustments can make it better, but never perfect. Any tips on how to avoid these black outlines?

These are quarter-sized images. Full size, the black outline is much more prominent.
