6D "Classic" with image stabilized lenses

I own a canon 6D "classic" and own a few prime lenses like 40mm , 85mm and 35mm F2 (older non IS version).

Although I am happy with the older 35mm lens, I was lately interested in the newer version which has Image stabilization with the hope it will allow me use lower shutter speeds (and perhaps lower ISO's) in low light condition.

However being a fairly old camera, I am not sure how well does the 6D classic performs with the newer image stabilized lenses, specifically the 35mm IS USM. Will the 6D automatically be able to detect that the lens has image stabilization and therefore choose a lower shutter speed ? I shoot mostly in aperture priority.

Hopefully some can share their experience with a similar set up

Thanks and regards
